Who We Are
Loreleis is a student-run a cappella group consisting of sixteen
dedicated undergraduate women from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. The group is named after the mythical siren on the
Rhine River who lured sailors to their deaths with her enchanting
voice.
Loreleis, a nonprofit organization active since 1981, performs
for campus and community events, produces a new album every other
year and tours nationally and internationally twice a year. Their
repertoire includes contemporary pop, R&B, country, oldies and
holiday classics. They group will celebrate its 25th anniverary
in 2007.
Check out the latest CD Downstairs (2006) on the "Albums"
page of this Web site. It includes great new songs like "Happy
Ending," which was featured on the CD Best of College A Cappella
(BOCA) 2006, Hysteria, Jolene and Objection. The group is set to
release a new CD the spring of 2008.
Within the last few years, Loreleis has won local and national
acclaim. On Wednesday, October 13, 2004, Loreleis sang the National
Anthem at Yankees Stadium during the second game of the American
League Championship Series. While in New York City, they visited
Trump Towers where they serenaded Donald Trump.
