Who We Are
Loreleis is an all-female a cappella group consisting of sixteen dedicated undergraduate women from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This student group is named after the mythical siren that enchanted sailors with her voice and lured them to their deaths.
Loreleis, a nonprofit organization established in 1981, performs for both campus and community events. They produce a new album every other year and tour nationally and internationally twice a year. Their sound includes a wide variety of styles. Their current repertoire includes contemporary pop, R&B, country, alternative, oldies and holiday classics.
Loreleis released their newest CD this past April (2008) titled “On The Record”! This CD features songs by artists including Fiona Apple, Ben Folds, Amy Winehouse, Dixie Chicks, and many more! To hear more of the Loreleis’ recordings explore the Albums page and listen to “Downstairs” (2006) and other earlier albums. Songs including "Happy Ending," which was featured on the CD Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) 2006, “Hysteria”, “Jolene” and “Objection” can be heard on their previous CD.
Throughout Loreleis history, they have won many local and national acclaims. On Wednesday, October 13, 2004, Loreleis sang the National Anthem at Yankees Stadium during the second game of the American League Championship Series. While in New York City, they visited Trump Towers and serenaded Donald Trump.
